Peter Reading was born in 1946 in Liverpool, England, and has been living in Shropshire since 1970. He has received many awards for his work, including a Cholmondeley Award for Poetry, the Dylan Thomas Award, a Whitbread Award, and a Lannan Award. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. Since 1970, he has published over twenty books of poems. His books include Water and Waste (Outposts, 1970); Diplopic (Secker & Warburg, 1983); Stet (Secker & Warburg, 1986); Final Demands (Secker & Warburg, 1988); Ukulele Music & Perduta Gente (reprinted by Northwestern University Press, 1994); Collected Poems (Bloodaxe, Vol.1, 1995; Vol. 2, 1996); Work in Regress (Bloodaxe, 1997), Chinoiserie (Bay Press, 1997), and his latest, Ob. (Bloodaxe, 1998). He is currently a Lannan Foundation Writer-in-Residence in Marfa, Texas. |
