Peter Sacks is the author of three books of poetry: In These Mountains (Macmillan,
1986); Promised Lands (Viking, 1990); and Natal Command (University of Chicago
Press, 1997). His critical works include Woody Gwynn: an Approach to the
Landscape (Texas Tech University Press, 1993), and The English Elegy: Studies in the Genre from Spenser to Yeats (JHU Press, 1985), which received the Christian Gauss Award. Peter Sacks was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1997. He was raised in South Africa, and now lives in Cambridge where he is a professor at Harvard.
