Walid Bitar was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1961 and spent his
childhood there; he emigrated with his family to Canada. He attended
the University of Toronto and spent several years working and
traveling in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. From 1990 to 1991,
he held a Teaching- Writing Fellowship at the University of Iowa,
and he currently lives in Toronto. 2 Guys on Holy Land,
his first collection of poems, was published by University Press
of New England in 1993.
