Norma Cole

Norma Cole is a poet, painter and translator. Her most recent poetry publications are The Vulgar Tongue (a+bend press 2000), Desire & Its Double (Instress 1998) and Spinoza in Her Youth (A.bacus February 1999). Scout, a text/image work, is forthcoming from Krupskaya Editions in CD-ROM format. Her current translation work includes Danielle Collobert’s Journals,Nude (forthcoming from Green Integer) and Crosscut Universe: Writing on Writing from France (forthcoming from Burning Deck). Cole has been the recipient of a Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation Award, Gertrude Stein Awards, as well as awards from The Fund for Poetry. She teaches at San Francisco State University, the University of San Francisco, and is also on the faculty of the new interdisciplinary MFA program at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. A Canadian by birth, Cole migrated via France to San Franciso where she has lived for the past twenty years.
