Jean Valentine is the author of seven books of poetry,
most recently The River at Wolf (Alice James Books, 1992) and Growing Darkness, Growing Light (Carnegie Mellon University Press, 1997). She has received a Guggenheim Fellowship and awards from The National Endowment for the Arts, The Bunting Institute, and The New York Foundation for the Arts. Jean Valentine teaches at Sarah Lawrence College and New York University, and lives in New York City.
