Susan Stewart

Susan Stewart's most recent book of poetry, The Forest, was published by the University of Chicago Press in 1995. She has published two earlier books of poems, Yellow Stars and Ice (Princeton University Press, 1981) and The Hive (University of Georgia Press, 1985), as well as three books of prose: Crimes of Writing (Oxford University Press, 1991 and Duke University Press, 1994), On Longing (Johns Hopkins University Press, 1984 and Duke University Press, 1993, 1994, and 1996), and Nonsense (Johns Hopkins University Press, 1979 and 1990). Her many honors include a Pew Fellowship in the Arts, a Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Writer's Award, and two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships in Poetry. Susan Stewart has been Professor of English at Temple University since 1978. She teaches poetry and poetics at the main campus in Philadelphia, and teaches issues in aesthetics at the Temple Seminars in Art and Culture in Rome.
