Brenda Hillman's most recent collection of poems, Bright Existence, was published by the Wesleyan University Press in 1993. Her other books include Death Tractates (Wesleyan, 1992) and Fortress (Wesleyan, 1989). Her work has also appeared in numerous anthologies, including The Wesleyan Tradition and Best American Poetry, 1990. She was awarded a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship for 1994-95, and her other honors include the Delmore Schwartz Memorial Award for Poetry and the Poetry Society of America's Norma Farber First Book Prize. Brenda Hillman teaches at St. Mary's College in Moraga, California.
